One pot



Bratkartoffeln: Chopped parboiled potatoes, bacon, onion oil, parsley

Stewed apple: sliced, sugar, vanilla, dash of fruit juice, (dab of marg), covered for 15+ minutes, then uncovered to thicken

Scrambled eggs (+ spinach + ham + toast)

Fried eggs

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 3/8 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 egg


Stir Fry



When it says something like onions (until soft), that means cook the onions to that point before adding the next ingredient—that way you don’t end up with half-raw onions and blackened carrots.

Ginger-sesame salad dressing makes for pretty good sauce on a lot of these, or
purchased teriyaki or hoisin or whatever.

Anything you’re not using a premade sauce on, add a little cornstarch dissolved in some water—like, maybe a half teaspoon of cornstarch per serve, plus a couple tablespoons of water.


  • Onions (until slightly soft) + shaved
    steak (until brown) + garlic + broccoli (until hot) + hoisin sauce or soy sauce
    + water or stock + a little cornstarch (+ sliced sweet peppers, added with the
    steak)
  • Chunks of protein (until cooked) +
    frozen veggie blend (until thawed and browned) + teriyaki sauce
  • Onions (until slightly soft) + shaved
    pork (until not raw-looking) + apples (until soft) + garlic + a little cinnamon
    + a little butter + a splash of apple juice/cider/beer/water
  • Green beans (until blistering a little)
    + sesame seeds + garlic (until starting to brown) + soy sauce OR hoisin sauce
  • Onions + carrots (until soft) + bell
    pepper or broccoli (until soft) + sugar snap peas (until warm) + hoisin OR
    teriyaki sauce (+ cubed chicken) (+ crumbled tofu or tempeh)
  • Onion (until soft) + sliced mushrooms
    (until soft) + sugar snap peas (until thawed) + soy sauce + garlic (+ red
    pepper flakes)
  • Chunks of protein (until cooked) +
    sugar snap peas (until thawed) + soy sauce + water or stock + cornstarch (+
    frozen baby corn, added with the snap peas)
  • Onions (until soft) + protein +
    mushrooms + hoisin sauce + sesame oil
  • Green beans + thin-sliced protein
    (until cooked through) + garlic + ginger + soy sauce (+ green onions)
  • Beef or chicken (until cooked through)
    + broccoli (until tender) + orange juice + soy sauce + sweet chili sauce
