Two-layer Dairy Free Mango Jelly/Jello
Feb. 15th, 2024 12:15 pmMake mango jelly/jello with dairy free milk in place of water. It forms two layers naturally.
Not much of a recipe but I kept thinking "I know I've used dairy free milk in jelly before but can't remember what happened", so. It forms an extra creamy layer on top and lightly creamy layer below. This tastes nice if you like the concentrated flavour of the dairy free milk, and terrible if you don't. Mango flavour worked best of the ones I've tried.
I specifically used Mango Aeroplane Jelly, and Califia Farms Oat Milk. I vaguely recall something similar happening with rice and/or almond milk. Coconut milk would likely taste good, but cow milk would probably curdle with the acid of the jelly mix. A lot of recipes online act like you can combine dairy free milk with gelatine and not have it form layers so idk if there's some way to avoid it?
Normally I don't bother giving US English translations but I didn't want to send anyone off to combine oat milk and mango jam ;)
